9/27 ELLIS: Please pray for my step-sister’s mom, Trudy Terchila. She has not been feeling well and a scan of her chest has revealed a mass. My sister has asked for prayer that this will turn out to be some benign, treatable condition. We also ask for wisdom for the doctors and peace for my sister and her mom. Thank you so much. Teri

9/16 SHANDER: Just want to thank you all for all the prayers for Marcia Glaser who went home to be with her Lord at midnight. |
9/13 MILD: Carolyn's surgery went well and just as planned. Continue to pray that there are no clots, infection or other issues. |
9/12 CMILD -Well, this is it.....We are
going to Cleveland Clinic this evening in preparation for surgery on my
leg tomorrow (Tuesday). Specific things I need prayers for - no blood
clots, no infection, anesthetics (no reaction), nerve block? and that I
will be able to walk correctly once the leg is straightened. Bob is doing much better. He
has to get his Gall Bladder removed next month. They have to wait
until it shrinks back to normal size before they try to remove it. |
9/8 BAKER: Pray for Mona Steinard |
9/6 SHANDER: Jess Holton - he has been transferred to a
regular room now and his breathing is much better, now hopefully he can
get some therapy so he can get up and moving to get on track with the
hip. Thank you again for all your prayers.
9/6 MILD: Just to update you on our situation -
we had to postpone my surgery again because Bob ended up in the hospital
yesterday with an inflamed gall bladder. We didn't know if they
were going to operate on him so I had no choice but to call off my
surgery scheduled for tomorrow. I am very upset because this is
the 2nd complication to come up with getting this leg procedure done.
I was supposed to have the surgery done in August but the other knee
acted up. Bob is doing much better and they
don't think they will have to do any surgery at this time although it
will need to be done at some point. Please pray for me to know
what to do about re-scheduling the leg repair surgery because it has to
be done before they can do my other knee.

8/24 CPC: Garry Adair's friend, Elizabeth, had eye surgery and is doing well. Thank you for the prayers. |
8/21 CMild - I wanted to update you on
my upcoming surgery. The doctors have decided to go ahead and do
my right leg and repair the break before they do the left knee.
This is not the way I would have chosen but I have accepted that it's
God's will to do it this way. I am scheduled for surgery on
Tuesday, September 6 at Cleveland Clinic. They will have to
re-open the break and take some of the bone fracture before putting a
plate on to straighten the leg. Please pray that I don't have any
complications like blood clots, infection, reactions to anesthetics,
etc. Please pray that my left knee will
get me through this surgery and recovery. It was supposed to have
been done this fall except that now they have to repair the right leg.
Thanks for your prayers. Carolyn
8/21 ELLIS: Thank you church family for your kind
thoughts and prayers. My friend Rosie went Home to be with Jesus
on Friday evening. Though I am so grateful that her suffering is
over, it is still so very hard for those of us left behind who loved
her. Please continue to pray for her family through the difficult
days ahead. Thank you so much and God bless each of you and your
families!
8/19 SHANDER: Marcia Glaser - the cancer has spread to her brain and neck, they will stop all treatments. Your continued prayers are very much appreciated. Prayer for family friend Terry, he had a heart attack and will be having a quadruple bypass surgery tomorrow at St Elizabeth's. Also, Jess is home and prayer now needed for continued healing and strength for my mom, Diane, as she cares for him.
8/18 ELLIS: Please pray for my friend, Rosie, and her
family. Rosie is in the end stages of brain cancer and has now
developed shingles. They have started her on Morphine and have
told us that she probably has two weeks or less to live. Though we
know that her passing will be a blessing for her and that she will then
be with Jesus, it is still so very hard for those of us who love her to
see her go. Please pray for comfort, mercy, and pain relief for
Rosie and for comfort and peace for her family and those who love her.
Thank you so much for your prayers!
8/17 SHANDER: Marcia Glaser - continued prayer for her and her family - she is having a lot of pain and is very uncomfortable.
8/16 SHANDER: Jess Holton - the infection in the hip has cleared up but now the lower leg has cellulites caused from the edema. They are going to be discharging him from AGH most likely Thursday but instead of sending him to rehab at SRH they are going to send him home since he is susceptible to infection. They will send in home care nurses and therapists until he is able to go out to therapy. Continued prayer for healing and now prayer for my mom, Diane Miller, as she will be the caregiver and as we all know the healing process is hardest on those supplying the care. Thank you for your continued prayers.
8/16 GRABAN: My Uncle, Larry Gibbens had surgery three
weeks ago. He was released to go home, but has been in and out of the
hospital with severe pain and a staff infection. They reopened the
surgery sight and found a spinal fluid leak, he is on IV antibiotics but
is still in pain and running a fever. Thank you for praying with me.
8/16 Van Cise: My cataract surgery went very well on Friday. It is truly 'a walk in the park'. It has made my vision clearer. I will have my right eye done on August 26th. I go for my appointment in Sewickley (1 1/2hrs. away) this Friday for the consultation for my eyelid surgery. I need to wait for a month after my cataract surgery to have this done. I hope it will be the end of September. My alignment problem still needs another surgery. I will be going back to John Hopkins in Baltimore to have this surgery and I'm hoping it will be the end of October. It will be 4 years in November that I have been dealing with eye problems. I'm continuing to learn to take it 'a day at a time'. Thanks for your prayers. Carolyn
8/15 SHANDER: Jess Holton - prayer still needed and very much appreciated until drs come in tomorrow morning. Leg is very swollen and lower leg now very red. He is scheduled for no food and drink after midnight in case surgery is necessary.

8/12 JA: Got this from a friend in Texas, the drought is really bad there and in Oklahoma, please join in prayer for both those states......We are being affected by this devastating drought. There is no longer sufficient grass to maintain our animals, and hay sources are very limited (and expensive). Gratefully, our wells remain strong (I think). Please pray this drought will be broken in God's perfect timing. As evidenced by people living in Texas and Oklahoma, the drought condition is reaching critical status; cattle are being auctioned off; crops have burned up; and drinking water is becoming a concern. Please join us in this prayer circle. Lets make this one of the largest prayer circles ever. It will be as though everyone is holding hands around the world. Father, You said whatsoever any two or more come together and agree and ask in Your Son's name, it shall be given. We come to you, humbly, and ask that you bring down the rain to our parched lands. Our farmers and ranchers need it desperately, as well as our firefighters. We ask this all in Jesus' name. Amen. |
8/11 PASTOR NOMINATING COMMITTEE: We ask and invite all of you to share one hour with us on Tuesday, August 23rd from 6:00 - 7:00 in Lawrence Hall. This hour before hand is so very important to us as a PNC as it is right before our weekly meeting. We still very much are in need of prayer as we continue this search during the difficult times of our denomination. We also need to be sure that we continue to follow God's timing and will and not our own. |
8/11 OSBORNE: Please pray for my Brother-In-Law, Alan Endicott, as he recovers from a Motorcycle accident 2 weeks ago. He suffered a broken leg, shattered ankle and a broken wrist. He is currently in a Physical Rehab program through St. Pauls Homes in Greenville. He didn’t suffer any major injuries, thank God, but it will be a long recovery process for him. Also, pray for his wife, my sister, Jeanne, for strength as she helps him through this. She had a tumor removed from the base of her brain in May 2010, and is still suffering residual problems from this. Pam
8/11 WOOTEN: Please pray for my sister-in-law, Lois
Perna who has been diagnosed with uterine cancer. She is on Chemo but
the doctors do not give her much of a chance since she cannot have
surgery due to problems with her lungs. She is in her late 70’s and
knows many people are praying for her. Thanks so much. Gert W.
8/10 SHANDER: Jess Holton - they are going to try a third and stronger antibiotic and see if it will work, if not on Monday they will make a decision about going back in and removing the hip which will be a high risk surgery for Jess due to all his other health issues. Continued prayers for healing, peace, and comfort for Jess at this time.
8/10 JEAN BROWN: Pray for her friends, Sonny (poor health) and Tina (cancer). |
8/8 CMild-Thank God I didn't have an
infection in the left knee as they feared. They put me on Prednisone
which will help take the swelling out of the leg. I am
re-scheduled for surgery on my right knee on September 6. I am
having my local physician write to CC and request that they do my left
knee before repairing the right leg. So far, they have refused to
do so. But, now after this last episode, I hope they will
re-consider it. Thanks for your prayers.
8/8 SZABO: Pray for Elizabeth Crowll, a friend of Garry Adair, will have eye surgery on Thursday. Pray that all goes well. |
8/8 Van Cise: Many of you have written asking me for an update concerning my eyes. My last surgery at John Hopkins was April 27th. My eyes still weren't good and my brother-in-law drove me to Baltimore June 7th for an appointment with Dr. Guyton. He said I needed to have cataract surgery, then surgery on my eyelids. We all have a tarsal plate in our eyelids. The muscles have been pulled away from mine due to all my surgeries. After these surgeries I will need to return to Dr. Guyton for another surgery on my left eye. He did tell me it won't be so invasive so will not damage my tarsal plate. It definitely does take a LONG time to get appointments. My cataract surgeries will be August 12th and August 26th. These will be done locally. I did have an appointment to see if my eyelid surgery will be covered by Medicare. I failed the Field Test which is good. The surgery will be covered by Medicare. I had an earlier appointment with Dr. Stefko in Sewickley, PA which was canceled and rescheduled for August 19th. Her office is 1 1/2 hours from my home. This appointment is August 19th. Surgery will be in Oakland which is also 1 1/2 hour away. This can't be scheduled until a month after my cataract surgeries. And the appointment with Dr. Guyton won't be able to be scheduled until a month after my eyelid surgery. This whole process is really a patience developer. I have heard that cataract surgery is a 'walk in the park'. I am counting on it to be 'one step closer to healing'. However, I'm writing to still request prayer for this whole process. Your prayers have meant so much to me through this ordeal. Thanks, Carolyn

8/8 SHANDER: Jess Holton has an infection. The doctors are not sure if it is from not moving around or if his body is rejecting the new hip. If they can’t get it under control they’ll have to remove the new hip. Please pray for the infection to leave his body.
8/4 SHANDER: Jess was moved from ICU back to the Rehab floor and if all goes as planned he will start rehab tomorrow. His potassium is to high and oxygen sats. are low. Thank you all for your continued prayer.
8/3 SHANDER: Jess Holton - surgery went well, took 4 1/2 hrs - he is resting now. Continued prayers now for healing and quick rehabilitation.
8/3 CMILD- they have postponed my surgery
for next Tuesday at Cleveland Clinic. My left knee has not
improved very much and I can't depend on it right now. I really
feel that they should do a replacement on the left knee first and then
repair the damage to the right one. I am going to approach the
doctor about this again. I need your prayers to know what to do.
8/3 BOMBECK: John Sed (Jan Bombeck's dad) is in Greenville hospital with pneumonia. Please pray for his full recovery. |
8/3 FRATILLA: My brother Tom has a large cancerous tumor on one of his kidneys. He will go to Allegheny General to have the kidney removed on Thursday. Please pray that nothing has spread to the lymph nodes. Thanks |
8/1 SHANDER: Marcia Glaser - a breast cancer and has now has metastasized to the bones, the prognosis is not good. Please pray for comfort for her and for her family peace as in March Marcia's husband passed away so it is a lot in a short period of time. Jess Holton - he is scheduled to have hip surgery at Alleghany General in Pittsburgh on Wednesday. As most of you may remember they attempted to do it here at SRH in April and there were some complications so it never happened, pray for peace for Jess as the surgery date nears.
8/1 C MILD -I am supposed to have surgery
at Cleveland Clinic on August 9 to repair the broken bone that happened
after my knee surgery last year. I got a shot of Prednisone in my left
knee last week to settle it down to be my primary support through this. I've been having tremendous pain
yesterday and today and went to emergency room. Thank God is is
not another blood clot, BUT it's possible that I have a staph infection
from the shot. They took fluid and are going to 'grow' it for the
next two days before we'll know. In the meantime, they wanted to
keep me at the hospital and get antibiotics by IV.
I talked them into letting me come
home and tomorrow have to go to ER tomorrow and get another dose of
antibiotics. If they discover by Monday that it is
staph, I will have to be admitted to Cleveland Clinic and they will have
to open the knee and drain it, etc. This is not a good scenario
for me......so I need your prayers that
it is not an infection in my left knee
that is causing fluid and pain. It could be that it activated some
arthritis. I have been praying about the surgery
to repair the right knee and whether I should go through with it.
I don't think that after all of this that it will be possible for them
to operate on me on August 9. I need prayers for strength,
encouragement, wisdom and healing to get through whatever is ahead of
me. Carolyn Mild

8/1 JEAN BROWN: Danny Campbell is very sick due to diabetes. Also pray for a friend that has Lou Gehrig's disease. |

Jordan in their prayers. Thanks so much!

6/14 MILD: I am being sent to Cleveland
Clinic to a orthopedic specialist on Wednesday. I had a knee
replacement in September and sometime in October, the femur bone was
unknowingly broken above the knee during physical therapy. The
bone healed incorrectly and is now causing pain because its starting to
fracture. They may have to remove the knee implant and put a metal
rod in the leg to correct the problem. With my MS and chemical
sensitivities, this is a major concern because I had some difficulties
during the first surgery.
6/14 PHILLIPS: Joan Phillips will be having surgery at Greenville Hospital on Thursday June 16.
6/13 SPEARS: Evelyn will have an alternative procedure instead of knee replacement. Please pray that it works. |

6/12 Carolyn Van Cise: Many of you have sent me encouraging notes. Thanks so much! I'm still not able to do much emailing. Sorry, I'm not answering you individually. My brother-in-law, Tom, did take me to Baltimore to John Hopkins Wilmer Eye Clinic. My appointment was last Tuesday at 4:30. Here's the scoop: 1. Dr. Guyton gave me 2 new prescriptions: one for reading and the other for long distance. I'll be able to pick them up on the 16th. 2. Due to many surgeries my eye lids have come down over my pupils. I need to go for a test to see if I will qualify for eyelid surgery under Medicare. I'm sure my left eye will qualify. Then I will have surgery on my left eye. And also my right eye, if I qualify. 3. Dr. Guyton thinks I need to have cataract surgery on my left eye. So I will also check into having this done. 4. After these procedures are complete, I will go back to Dr. Guyton for another surgery. He think my reading will be better with the new prescription if I hold what I am reading directly in front of me. I'm not able to read looking down so that is what the next surgery will help. Please pray for favor as I try to line up these appointments. It is amazing how far out most of these doctors need to make their appointments. Mother is settling in better at the home. She is always glad to see me and doesn't fuss about coming home. While Tom was here we took her to the Dairy Queen for a sundae and she was delighted. It still makes me sad that she is there but at the same time I'm so grateful for such a place. She is treated very well. Leaning into His grace, Carolyn

6/5 Carolyn Van Cise: It is me again! The eye surgery I had April 27 was not successful. My long distance sight is fine but close up is not. My brother-in-law is taking me to an appointment at John Hopkins Eye Clinic in Baltimore this Tuesday from 4:30 - 5:30. I appreciate your prayer. May Dr. Guyton have wisdom on how the surgery can be done to be successful. This is just an appointment. Eye surgeries can only be done every 3 months. Sure hope he knows a new direction to take. Mother is settling in better in the nursing home. The home takes some of the patients out for lunch about 4 times a month. When I know she is going some place I go in my car and meet her at the restaurant so we can enjoy lunch together. Yesterday 10 of her friends from the her teaching days met her at the VFW for a fish dinner. Mother was so thrilled to see them. Her address is Countryside, 8221 Lamor Road, Mercer, PA 16137 Thanks again for your prayers. I will let you know how things go.
